Ask a person their net worth and they can often give a rough figure. Ask them the state of their own body, the real numbers, the trajectory, the risks quietly accumulating inside them, and most cannot answer at all. This is backwards, and the coming decades will make the error obvious. The most important data any human owns is not financial. It is biological.
Every other number a person tracks is downstream of this one. Wealth exists to buy experience, and experience requires a functioning body to have it in. A large fortune attached to a failing body is a cruel arrangement, and it is more common than anyone admits, because the culture trained people to measure the account and ignore the vessel. The account can be rebuilt. The body, past a certain point, cannot. And yet people will study a stock for hours and have never once looked seriously at the machine they actually live inside.
The near future changes this by making health measurable in a way it never was. As sensing, testing, and analysis become continuous rather than occasional, every person will effectively carry a health score, a live readout of how well the system is actually running. And once something becomes measurable, it becomes improvable, and once it becomes improvable, people compete on it. The status game that currently runs on visible consumption will increasingly run on visible vitality, because vitality is the one form of wealth that cannot be faked, borrowed, or inherited. A person either has energy, resilience, and a body that works, or they do not, and no amount of money disguises the difference.
Understanding your own body will become the highest form of literacy, above financial literacy, because financial literacy without a functioning body is planning a future you will not be well enough to inhabit. This means knowing your own baselines, your own risks, the specific inputs that help and harm your particular system, rather than outsourcing the entire question to a medical system that mostly engages after something has already broken. The person who understands their body better than anyone else holds an advantage that compounds across every year of their life, because every decision, every day, either adds to the system or subtracts from it.
The shift is already beginning, and the people who see it early will treat their own biology the way serious investors treat a portfolio. Measured, understood, optimized, protected. Health is the one asset every human is issued at birth and the one most people never learn to manage. In the era arriving now, that will no longer be a private oversight. It will be a visible score, and the people who understood its importance first will be the ones living the longest, sharpest, most capable lives, while everyone else finally realizes the most valuable thing they ever owned was the one they never bothered to measure.
